  • Assistantships for Tenor & Bass Trombonists (MM & DMA) are available through the School of Music & Graduate College.  Recipients for these competitive awards are selected based on academic record, skill set, and needs within the School of Music.

  • To receive full consideration, Graduate Applications and Preliminary Pre-Screened Audition need to completed and uploaded no later than December 1, 2024.

  • Pre-Screened Recordings  should include 2 solo selections (with piano if the piece calls for it), 1 etude, and 3 standard orchestral excerpts.  Requests for suggested repertoire should be directed to jbynum@uga.edu

  •  No editing within a piece, but it is not necessary to record all material in one take.  Video is preferred, but not mandatory.

Applicants will be selected from the pre-screened recordings to play a live audition for the Brass Faculty in January 2025 (see above for dates).   For the live audition, candidates can prepare new repertoire (2 contrasting solo selections & excerpts).  There will also be sight-reading.  Piano accompaniment at the live audition is not required.

For more information regarding the application process, please contact Dr. Bynum.
