Campus Invite Graduate Auditions will take place on the following days:

Saturday - January 11, 2020

Saturday - January 25, 2020

We are currently accepting applications for graduate study in both tenor and bass trombone.

Assistantships for the MM and DMA are available through the School of Music & Graduate College.

Recipients for these competitive awards are selected based on academic record, skill set, and needs within the School of Music.  Graduate Applications need to be completed by December 1, 2019 for optimal consideration for assistantships and admission to the Fall 2020 semester.

For the audition portion of the application, there is two-step process:

  • Preliminary Pre-Screened Audition. Applicants need to upload recordings to Acceptd no later than December 1, 2019.

  • Recordings  must include two contrasting works (or movements of works) of standard literature with piano accompaniment.  In addition, the recording must include one etude and three excerpts

Applicants may choose from the following repertoire:

Tenor Trombone:

Choose 1 Etude:

Bordogni: Vocalises No. 60-65

Choose 3 Excerpts:

Mahler - Symphony No. 3, mvt. 1 (first solo)

Applicants will be selected from the pre-screened recordings to play an on-campus audition early in 2020 (see above for possible dates).  In unusual circumstances, an alternate audition can be arranged.  For the live audition, candidates must prepare new repertoire (2 contrasting solo selections & excerpts).

In addition, the candidate should submit a list of  orchestral excerpts he/she will be prepared to play.
Live accompaniment at the on-campus audition is not required.   For more information regarding the application process, please contact Dr. Bynum.
