Congratulations to Dalton Hooper for being named the runner-up for the State Division of the MTNA Young Artist Solo Competition!

Congratulations to Danny Alford for winning a sublist audition for the Spartanburg Symphony Orchestra! Danny was also invited to the 2022 Raphael Mendez Brass Institute and the Third Coast Trombone Retreat. Most recently, Danny has advanced to the final round of the UGA Concerto Competition!

Congratulations to Jonas Ventresca for accepting a position as camp counselor for the 2022 Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp! Jonas also won the staff concerto competition!

Dr. Bynum's contemporary chamber group MOD[ular] Ensemble is featured on Peter Van Zandt Lane's album New Cartography, which is in consideration for a Grammy Award Nomination for Best Small/Chamber Ensemble Performance.

Dr. Bynum was awarded the 2020 Creative Research Award, representing the Arts & Humanities. This was in recognition of his solo release Catalyst. He was also promoted to Full Professor.

Congratulations to Paul Nelson (BM - Junior) for the successful premiere performance of his group Mister Tie-Dye! The group recently played a two hour set to a packed house at Hendershots, and featured several of Paul's arrangements and originals.

Dr. Bynum has been asked to play the entire 2015-16 season with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra! As a sign of strong support from the UGA administration, he has received a partial leave for the academic year. Nathan Zgonc & Brian Hecht have both signed on to help with the weekly schedule. Each student will receive lessons from Bynum, Zgonc, and Hecht in a rotational system.

Congratulations to Thomas Carroll (BM) for recently completing USMC basic training. Thomas was tapped for the Officer Candidate Program, and will enter the Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation from UGA this spring. Thomas is a double-major in Music Performance & Physics, Volunteer Firefighter, Section Leader for Redcoats, Iron Man Competitions....and still practices more than most! We are very proud of you Thomas!

Be looking for Dr. Bynum's new commercial solo release to hit the shelves in mid-August. Catalyst features the music of Anthony Plog, Aaron Copland, Ludwig van Beethoven, Gabriel Stockhausen, and Jean-Michel Defaye. It will be available through Potenza Music.

Congratulations to Matt Norman (MM) for being named a finalist in the ITA Lewis Van Haney Orchestral Excerpt Competition! The finals were held at the ITF in Valencia, Spain. Matt played well and was runner-up. Matt has also been named as a participant for the 2015 Alessi Seminar!
