The Georgia Trombone Summit will have two classes:


    • One 45 minute lesson from the GTS Artist/Faculty (included with tuition)

    • Quartets - Coached by members of Resonant Projection and will perform on final concert

    • Orchestral Sections - Coached by members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra

    • Selected participants will be invited to perform in the daily masterclasses and clinics.  

    • Open to all ages, but those requiring housing must either be 18+ years of age

    • Selected by submitted audition recordings. See the Audition Info page for more details


    • Able to attend all performances, master classes, and exhibits

    • Daily Auditor-focused Masterclass led by members of BSO Section & Steve Wiest

    • Q&A & Topic Discussions with GTS Faculty: RPTQ & Steve Wiest

    • Artist Lesson Availability --- Limited Number (paid directly to Artist)

    • Trombone Choir Rehearsals & Performance on Final Concert

    • Open to all ages, but those requiring housing must either be 18+ years of age

    • No audition is required. See the Audition Info page for more details.  


Tuition Information
Tuition rates (excluding housing) for the 2019 Georgia Trombone Summit are as follows:

  • Participant: $500

  • Auditor (Full Event): $300

  • Auditor (Daily):  $100

  • Application Fee: $40

 The tuition includes:

  • Entrance for all Summit Events: Concerts, Masterclasses/clinics, Exhibits, etc.

  • Georgia Trombone Summit T-Shirt (one per entrant)

  • Pizza Dinner with Artist/Faculty, Participants, and Auditors 


Housing, Parking, & Travel Info
Housing is available for an additional $175.  Checking in on Wednesday (May 29th) and checking out on the morning of Sunday (June 2nd).  Please be sure to indicate your need for housing on the application.  Housing reservations must be made before May 25th. 

Housing Fee includes:

  • Double Occupancy Room in a University Housing Apartment from May 29 - June 1

  • Rental of linens for the entire stay (pillow; pillowcase; sheets; blankets; towels; etc)

  • Semi-private bath 

For those with a personal vehicle, parking passes are available for $25 per book.  Be sure to select purchase when making tuition payment.  University Lots are monitored from 8am-5pm on Monday through Friday.   There is also campus transit, which has a pickup/drop-off location close to the School of Music. 

With the exception of the group dinner, meals will be your responsibility, and options include more than a dozen downtown restaurants, as well as the nearby East Campus Village Dining Facility.

Travel Information:

  • Best Airport Option:  Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (approx. 75 miles from campus)

  • Airport Shuttle:  Groome Transportation (approx. $45 each way)

    • Runs from airport to campus

    • Request shuttle drop off at the UGA Georgia Center

    • Inform GTS of arrival time to coordinate pickup


All evening recitals will be open to the public and will not be ticketed. All other events during the day such as master classes, ensemble rehearsals, exhibits, etc. will be open only to participants and auditors.

Once final rosters for the Participant & Auditor classes have been set, a link for tuition deposit & final payment will be sent, along with other specific information about the Georgia Trombone Summit.
