Wyatt is a 3rd year Music Education major with jazz minor, along with a Music Business certificate. Wyatt is a member of the UGA Trombone choir, Jazz 1 ensemble, UGA Wind Symphony and Redcoat Marching Band. In addition to these ensembles, Wyatt is a proud member of the Athens Short Bones quartet (ASBQ), where he is joined by fellow studio members: Ivan Baquerizo, Tylan Davis, and Dalton Hooper. The ASBQ recently celebrated its third-year anniversary by submitting recordings to the International Trombone Association Quartet competition. Wyatt’s recent accomplishments include Performing at the International Trombone Festival this past July with the UGA Trombone Choir, teaching a band camp at Madison County High School, getting some local gigs, performing a late summer/ early fall recital and as stated above, submitting a quartet recording.
Wyatt recommends the University of Georgia because it is a diverse place full of many opportunities. From clubs to amenities seen in the great facilities, UGA has many opportunities for those who choose to seek them out. As for the Hugh Hodgson School of Music, Wyatt considers this his second home. The music school is a great community and the opportunities for ensembles and guest artists are continually growing. While at UGA, Wyatt has been fortunate to make some great memories. He first would be attending the International Trombone Festival this past summer. This changed his perspective in numerous ways and really inspired him. Following this would be attending the American Trombone Workshop and getting pizza with Joe Alessi.
When not in practice room 208 (or others on the 2nd floor), you can find Wyatt making bank in the media department at UGA’s main library. In the media department, he often works with patrons on finding films they want rent out and microfilm they may need. Additionally, Wyatt loves watching movies, and hanging with friends. Heavily inspired by his excellent teacher Dr. Bynum, Wyatt’s goals are to become a freelance musician. He loves playing and would like to perform as much as possible. Additionally, Wyatt has always been a strong advocate for education. He wants to have a private studio of students of all ages.
