Iain Cooke is a 3rd-year trombonist studying to receive his Bachelors of Art in Music at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia along with a Certificate in Music Business. He is currently in the Hodgson Wind Ensemble, and has performed with the Redcoat Marching Band, Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, UGA Trombone Choir, and MP Theater Jazz Group.

In addition to making the Dean’s List 3 years running, he is also a recipient of the Zell Miller Scholarship, Cora Miller

Scholarship and Charter Scholarship. He is currently the Philanthropy and Service Chairman for Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and is working as the Brass Coordinator for Full Moon School of Music in Watkinsville, GA.

Iain is a music major because it allows him to express himself authentically and has connected him with a really special community of people in and out of the music school. UGA specifically has provided him with lifelong friends and a stellar education in music and music business here in the Athens-Clarke County area. There is so much to explore and learn here!

Iain’s favorite musical memory is probably playing the National Anthem at the Notre Dame game in 2019 with the UGA Trombone Choir that concluded with a flyover in Sanford Stadium! In addition to playing the trombone Iain loves to cook food, write songs, spend time with friends and family, and go on walks in the forest. One day Iain hopes to work in the music industry as a performer, songwriter, and producer here in Athens and Atlanta or work in a non-profit music organization like Nuci’s Space.
